Uppsala Library donates manuscripts’ microfilms to Astan-e Qods library

TEHRAN -- The Uppsala University Library of Sweden recently donated a series of microfilms containing priceless manuscripts to the Astan-e Qods Razavi Library.

The microfilms have been prepared by the Manuscripts Department of the Royal Library of Alexandria in Egypt.

The manuscripts include “Al-Hiyal al-Ruhaniyah” by Abu Nasr Farabi, “Al-Hikmah al-Arudiyah” by Avicenna, “Sirr al-Khaliqah” by Bulinus al-Hakim, “Al-Gauharatain al-Atiqatain” by Ahmad al-Hamdani, and “Mizan al-Tabib” by Ibn al-Baytar.

These works deal with the topics of medicine, literature, philosophy and logic.

According to the Public Relations Office of Astan-e Qods Library, the work “Sirr al-Khaliqah” is the oldest manuscript to be found in the Uppsala Library.

The Uppsala University Library was founded in 1620. Today, it is the largest and oldest University Library in Sweden with 5 million books and 12000 electronic journals.

Astan-e Qods Razavi Library is home to 78,000 manuscripts, in addition to a collection of 3000 microfilms and 4000 digital copies of manuscripts collected from the world’s great libraries.
